| Oregon Writer Shares Endangered Species Act Experience Portland author and wildlife biologist Marcy Houle was so inspired by WaterWatch's May 5th action alert on the Endangered Species Act (ESA) she wrote an op/ed in the May 14th Los Angeles Times on her time working with peregrine falcons when the ESA went online in the mid-70s. She noted how the ESA quickly saved several species from extinction, and that it was "passed by a near-unanimous bipartisan vote in Congress." The Trump administration is trying to repeal the "harm" rule of the ESA, a central component of the landmark policy. |

| Spring Instream: Angler and Author Steve Duda WaterWatch co-hosted a pair of events with angler and author Steve Duda in Beaverton and Bend last summer as he promoted his book River Songs: Moments of Wild Wonder in Fly Fishing. Steve recently lent some of his wisdom to the spring issue of our Instream newsletter in which he discussed his favorite river to fish on, his love of fly fishing, arrival in the Pacific Northwest from the Midwest, and shared his River Songs essay "Lessons." Our entire spring Instream issue is now available online, and look for our summer issue in mid-July. |
