Support New Instream Water Right Applications in the Mid-Willamette NOW

We need your help today to support new legal protections for instream flows for fish in Oregon's beloved Mid-Willamette River system, including segments of the North, Middle, and South forks of the Santiam River, Calapooia River, Luckiamute River, Long Tom River, West Fork Marys River, and many more.

ODFW has applied for a total of 269 new instream water rights in the North Willamette, Mid-Willamette, and Upper Willamette to protect natural flows in many of our cherished waterways.

Public comment on these instream rights is occurring in three batches, with the comment period for the 67 Mid-Willamette basin applications closing Thursday, Oct. 31st, at 5 p.m.

Approval of these applications falls to the Oregon Water Resources Department, so it is extremely important those of us who love Oregon rivers to weigh in with our support.

Instream Water Rights do not harm existing water rights, but do protect flows from new withdrawals going forward. Establishing protection for instream flows for fish is critical to maintain healthy rivers in the face of climate change.
